hi, this is the final post (unless there are more things i can improve on) of the prologue/opening scene of my story.
Silent tears slipped down Sofia’s cheeks as she trudged through the forest, branches snapping under her feet. The pale moonlight illuminated her ashen face and the straggly russet tresses that tumbled over her shoulders. She was trembling; unable to feel the light weight in her arms. For miles she had been walking through fields and the eerily silent forest where not even the owls hooted. Her legs ached to the point where she just wanted to collapse. That was when she caught sight of the thick cluster of spiky bushes that Chris had told her to head for. In front was a small cluster of yellow flowers, unlike the rest of the colourless forest.
She collapsed to her knees, laid her bundle to one side and dug desperately through the soft, crumbling dirt with her bare hands, her fingers numbed by the cold air and pain of sticks and stones cutting her skin and collecting under her nails. Her arms were covered in scratches from the bushes, but she would just have to withstand the irritation. It was nowhere near as bad as the emotional pain she was suffering from. The hole she had dug was just big enough amidst the bushes. She took a huge breath, as if it were her first, as she wiped a muddy hand across her cheek. Her tears left tracks in the dirt on her face. She laid down what she had been carrying, placing it carefully in the hole and covering it up and mumbling some words. She rose to her feet, wobbling slightly as she stood. As exhausted as she was, she managed to sprint out of the murky forest, the crisp night air biting at her cheeks.
As she ran, she was overcome by a strange sense of relief. It was good to cry, as it helped her release her emotions, but she believed she had done the right thing. Anyone could tell her she hadn’t, but she didn’t really have any other choice. She had argued with herself about it so much that something that at first seemed so wrong, now seemed to be the best thing to have done. Chris made her do it; he didn’t want to be caught but didn’t seem to care if Sofia did. Occasionally she wondered if he cared about anything she did. No-one could know what had happened because Chris would be put away, and Sofia didn’t want her daughter Rosa to lose the father figure in her life again. Chris had pulled Sofia up off her feet when she needed it most, and she couldn’t help but love him for that. The question now for Sofia was; could she ever forgive him? She had always been known as the girl with the golden heart, but maybe this was one step too far.
Thanks in advance ( be honest)
Dee xx
there was a spelling mistake i noticed: should be colorless instead of colourless.
for those who were wondering (betty) im thirteen ![]()
Wow thanks for reviewing mine, yours is REALLY good and im an obsessed bookaholic and I know that if this is published, you’ll make millions. It is really descriptive but don’t push it to much because then it will become boring to the reader. You nailed that though.
This is the type of book that leaves the reader begging for more. IF you are to publish it, I don’t know much about the story yet but it would be great as a series. Not those series where you can pick up any of the books and understand it all. But the type of series that you have to read from the beginning or it doesn’t make sense. I don’t like twilight but that is a good example of that type of thing. You can’t pick up eclipse and expect to understand it all.
WOW ive gotten off topic anyway great story don’t give up no matter what anyone says, even if you were declined by 5 publishing company’s look for the sixth! =]
What do you people think about The BIG O getting on Air Force one and flying in there and giving one of his sappy syrupy can’t we all get along speeches? I’m sure the Taliban will step back and be our buddies. And I’m sure that the Taliban would promise to disarm.
The only stipulation would be that he would have to take Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the rest of this poor excuse for an administration with him. Yes or No?
Yes. Let’s trade Pelosi and Reid for a gallon of goats milk.
1993 k1500 blazer 4wd tranny question(shifting)?
about a month ago i had an engine fire. most of the harness was wiped out. as most know these are not sold after market or from dealer. I got one from a chevy pick up. i also used the idle air control, map sensor, maf sensor and throttle position sensor. i am not sure if they are the same or not. the truck drove fine except for a clogged injector before fire. i just bought the beast. im getting the kinks out. i was driving it and about 30 miles after its started racing idle was 1500-2000 rpms and shift points are 3500 exactly everytime. im guessing the computer calculated the readings from either bad or wrong sensors. do any of these sensors tell the tranny when to shift. im guessing tps might. or should i look at either vacuum or possible a missed melted wire behind engine. the tranny was overfilled and took out the extra fluid and brought it down to normal operating level.
i did grab the ecm but my truck already had on in another location. im guessing mounted on the distributor because i didnt have one on the map,maf bracket .
If you are idleing at 2000 RPM, I would replace the TPS. It is sending an incorrect signal to the ECU and is likely all that is wrong.
Just as the title says. Im getting 180 miles per tank max. It’s a DOHC 1.9 l4. Everyone else i know is getting at least 30-35 with the same model. There are no dash lights like SES or service lit, and i had the car scanned multiple times for codes but nothing comes up. I DO NOT calculate my mileage by the gauge, i use the trip odo, miles driven/gallons used. Here are all the parts i replaced:
Replaced:
Battery
Air Filter
EGR Valve
PCV Valve
NGK Plugs and Wires
Control Module
Starter
WIX #33731 Fuel Filter/Regulator
ECTS and Connector
AIT Sensor and Connector
MAP Sensor
Front Manifold Oxygen Sensor, OEM
Thermostat
Valve Cover Gasket
Cleaned the Throttle Body
I also tested the catalytic converter for clogs, but it is clear.
I have this issue listed on multiple forums but i cannot find the answer. the car only weighs 2400 pounds and i removed any extra weight from the car, including the spare tire and jack. I do not have a lead foot, and have been driving like a 90 year old man. I got the car in April 2009 and have been getting this gas mileage from day one. The car drives fine, doesn’t stall or hesitate. Starts right up even on the coldest of days. The gas mileage is just miserable.
The transmission valve body was replaced in July 2009 due to reverse issues. but gas mileage stood exactly the same. I have no idea where to go next. I can’t even sell the car because ill loose even more money now that Saturn is gone, and i put alot of money into it already. The car had 78,000k when i bought it, and has 84,300k now. Any ideas at all would be great.
The tank size is 12.1 gallons. I also have looked and tested for vaccume leaks but found nothing. No one is stealing my gaslone either because i bought a locking gas cap. There are also no gas leaks as ive checked, and the brakes are not dragging.
The transmission fluid is a nice pink color. It was brown before the new valve body was installed, but is pink now has been pink ever since. The transmission doesn’t slip and shifts smoothly into gears. I was thinking either a faulty PCM or dribbling injector. Could an injector dribble and not affect performance? I used multiple bottles of injector cleaner before i replaced any parts but it didn’t do anything.
The temp sensor was changed, thats the ECTS.
Start by getting your transmission fluid & filter replaced. Especially since. you had issues with the tranny already. If the color if the fluid (now) is brown, instead of, red/pink then you have a bad transmission.
A cars mileage will be bad if the tranny is slipping or if it never shifts into 2nd or 3rd gear.
BTW the normal MPG for this car is 22-23 MPG. here’s the link

I’m planning to buy plane tickets for my girlfriend to fly her from the US to the UK, I have accumulated a number of miles with US Airways that I would like to use as a discount for the plane tickets. Would that be possible?
That is not a problem. When you redeem the miles, just tell them the name of the passenger.
american express gives you one point per dollar…
so how many miles will you have to rack up before you can get a ticket with it.
50,000 minimum coach, seats are limited, SAT night stay required, very tough to find those kind of seats…could also end up being 75,000 or 100,000 depending upon availability…
Here’s the situation. I live in NJ, my boyfriend lives in TX. Needless to say I’m going to be traveling a lot out there so I need a credit card that will help me not kill my piggy bank.
Anyone use these cards for the miles? Please tell me which card you have and why you like it.
Does that mean then I could only fly out of Newark to get the deal?
Well if you’re going to be going to TX, I would recommend getting the Continental Airlines card. From Newark to Houston, and most every major other city in Texas, Continental is the biggest airline. If you’ll be flying a lot, then I’d get that. Also use that credit card for everything and only use your checking account to pay it off at the end of the month. That way, you can rack up points/miles when you’re not even flying! Of course, purchasing air travel on Continental will give you more points.
THANKS TO WILLIAM FOR SENDING THE PICTURES.

Sydney hit by Apocalyptic” duststorm / sandstorm
September 2009

Sydney dust storm; flight chaos, health worries.
Australia’s worst dust storm in 70 years blanketed the heavily populated east coast Wednesday in a cloud of red Outback grit, nearly closed the country’s largest airport and left millions of people coughing and sputtering in the streets.
No one was hurt as a result of the pall that swept in overnight, bringing an eerie orange dawn to Sydney, but ambulance services reported a spike in emergency calls from people with breathing difficulties, and police warned drivers to take it easy on the roads.
Dust clouds blowing east from Australia’s dry interior — parched even further by the worst drought on record — covered dozens of towns and cities in two states as strong winds snatched up tons of topsoil, threw it high into the sky and carried it hundreds of miles (kilometers).
International flights were diverted from Sydney to other cities — three from New Zealand were turned around altogether — and domestic schedules were thrown into chaos as operations at Sydney Airport were curtailed by unsafe visibility levels. Passenger ferries on the city’s famous harbor were also stopped for several hours for safety reasons.
The dust over Sydney had largely cleared by midafternoon, though national carrier Qantas said severe delays would last all day because of diverted and late-running flights.
The dust was still flying further north, however, and the sky over the Queensland state capital of Brisbane was clogged with dust into the early evening.
Such thick dust is rare over Sydney, and came along with other uncommon weather conditions across the country in recent days. Hailstorms have pummeled parts of the country this week, while other parts have been hit with an early spring mini-heatwave, and wildfires.
“It did feel like Armageddon because when I was in the kitchen looking out the skylight, there was this red glow coming through,” Sydney resident Karen told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio.
The storms — visible as a huge brown smudge in satellite photographs of Australia on Wednesday — are the most severe since the 1940s, experts said. One was recorded traveling from southern Australia all the way to New Zealand some 1,400 miles (2,220 kilometers) away.
Officials said particle pollution in Sydney’s air rose to the worst on record Wednesday, and the New South Wales state ambulance service said it had received more than 250 calls before midday from people suffering breathing problems.
People with asthma or heart or lung diseases were urged not to go outside and to keep their medicine inhalers handy.
“Keeping yourself indoors today is the main thing to do if you have any of those conditions and particularly if you’re a known sensitive sufferer such as children, older adults or pregnant women,” said Wayne Smith, a senior state health official.
Sydney residents coughed and hacked their way through their morning commute, rubbing grit from their eyes. Some wore masks, wrapped their faces in scarves or pressed cloths over their noses and mouths.
“These dust storms are some of the largest in the last 70 years,” said Nigel Tapper, an environmental scientist at Monash University. “Ten very dry years over inland southern Australia and very strong westerlies have conspired to produce these storms.”

Lyrics:
We’re on the air tonight
We’re on the air tonight
Reach up high as you wave good-bye
One the air, on the air tonight
You can fly, you can fly all night
No-one’s there, everything’s all right
Communicate, extrapolate
Just sign up, if you dare
Accommodate, just don’t be late
We’re living on the air
Refrain:
I wanna be miles and miles away
If you show it, I can load it,
I can fight it, I can be it
I’ll send you a little something
But you might not even see it
I wanna be miles and miles away
I can run it, I can sum it,
I can hide it, I can steal it
When I’m goin’ a little fast
Sometimes I crash but I don’t fell it
Communicate, extrapolate
Just sign up if you dare
Accommodate, just don’t be late
We’re living on the air
Is ist just me? Didn’t you feel that
Or am I the only one?
Cos’ if it’s just me, then
I’m on the air on my own
You know and I know
That you might be a no-show
So where to? Only God knows
So just say hello
Refrain
Here we go, turn the lights down low
Gives the screen such an eerie glow
You don’t know where you’re gonna go
But, it’s all right, let the night unfold
Communicate, extrapolate
Just sign up if you dare
Accommodate, just don’t be late
We’re living on the air
Is it just me? Didn’t you feel that
Or am I the only one?
Cos’ if it’s just me, then
I’m on the air on my own
You know and I know
That you might be a no-show
So where to? Only God knows
So just say hello

Flash Alert! Flash Alert! Flash Alert!
Day five of the festival and it is the first Sunday with no less then four events. No rain is forecast so I camp out in my usual spot starting at noon. As there are so many premieres during the festival it is not often a really early start is called for as fan pressure is divided among the events. Also today there is a celeb fest at the 10th anniversary of Lion King but I elect to stay in the Square to make sure I can cover the whole festival for you dear viewer. One consequence is that I end up taking care of the usual suspects bags while they go off to that event.
George Clooney headed off to Italy for the premiere of the film there and could not make this event. Instead we had Oscar tipped director Jason Reitman who is always welcome in the Square as he is great with fans. To entertain the crowd there were folk dressed in airline uniforms wheeling their luggage up and down the red carpet to echo the air miles central theme of the movie. The two ladies from the film were there Vera Farmiga who plays Alex and Anna Kendrick (Natalie). These two are very popular with the waiting ones and created quite a buzz.
Celeb in attendance:
Natascha McElhone
As usual, please let me know of omissions, errors and comments. Thank you.
